Alabaster is a soft, translucent stone that has been carved into lamps since ancient Egypt. Light passes through it rather than off it, so a lit alabaster lamp glows from inside, revealing the veins and cloudy patches of the stone, different in every piece.

This pendant stacks three simple turned forms on a single axis: a cup at the top, finished with a slim black metal ring; a flattened disc, like a smooth river stone; and a full sphere at the bottom. Hung on a plain black chain, it is small and quiet by day, a little stack of white stone. At night it becomes a soft, warm column of light.

Finding the right spot

Hang it beside the bed in place of a bedside lamp, with the sphere about 40 to 50 cm above the table; use one on each side for a pair. It also suits a niche, a powder-room vanity, or a row of three down a narrow passage or above a kitchen counter. The chain is cut to your ceiling, so tell us the drop you need. For a warm glow, use a warm white (2700K) LED tube.

Care

Switch off and let the light cool before cleaning. Alabaster is a soft, porous stone: dust it gently with a soft, dry cloth, and never wet it, polish it or use any cleaner. Keep it out of steam and splashes, and handle it with care.

Before you order

This pendant is made to order and priced per piece. Because alabaster is a natural stone, the veining of your pendant will differ from the photos. It takes one LED tube, which is not included, and comes with a 2-year warranty. Production takes 10–14 days, followed by 4–6 days for delivery.
