Check the total height against the bed and table: when you sit up to read, the shade should shield the bulb while directing light onto the page. A matched pair frames a bed or long sideboard; one lamp works well beside a chair. If the bedside surface is narrow, consider bedroom wall lights instead.
A heavier brass or ceramic base feels secure on a busy console. Fabric shades soften the light, while metal and glass shades give a more defined pool. In a living room, layer a table lamp with floor lamps and wall lights rather than relying on one bright overhead fitting. See our table lamp placement guide for more ideas.
Our table lamps ship worldwide, with regular exports to the USA, UK, EU and UAE. For custom lighting, dimensions, finishes and electrical components can be specified for the destination, including agreed UL, CE or other requirements. International ordering FAQs.

Common questions
The bottom of the shade should sit at roughly shoulder height when you are sitting up in bed, which usually means a lamp of 24 to 27 inches on a standard nightstand. On a console or sideboard, 28 to 34 inches carries the surface without crowding it.
As a rule the shade should be about two-thirds the height of the base, and slightly wider than the base is at its widest point. A shade that is too narrow makes a lamp look top-heavy even when the proportions are otherwise right.
Hand-cast brass and hammered metal have weight, which matters on a surface people brush past. Ceramic and carved wood are softer in a bedroom. Blackened metal is the quietest option where the lamp should not be the thing you notice.
Fabric diffuses warmly and is the usual choice for reading in bed or in a chair. Metal and glass shades throw light down in a tighter pool, which suits a console or a work desk rather than a bedside.
Yes, and bedside lamps almost always work better as one. We make pairs from the same batch of metal so the finish agrees. Base finish, shade material and shade size can all be adjusted.
