In the great mosques and palaces of Istanbul, lanterns were rarely hung alone. Dozens of glass kandil would hang together from a single ring or ceiling rose, at different heights, so the light seemed to float in the air. The Brass Blossom Cluster brings that idea to a single room.

Five of our Pera lantern pendants hang on brass chains from a large ceiling canopy cut in pierced brass jaali, in the shape of an open blossom with scrolling petals. Each lantern pairs an onion-shaped clear glass dome with a round glass bowl, joined by a diamond-lattice brass band, with four candle lights inside and a filigree brass drop below. Hung at staggered heights, the five glow as one.

Finding the right spot

The cluster is made for double-height entrances, stairwells and large dining rooms, where the staggered lanterns have room to float. Over a dining table, set the lowest lantern 30 to 36 inches above the table top; elsewhere keep at least 7 feet of clearance below it. Share your ceiling height when you order and we will set the chain lengths. Use clear warm white (2700K) E14 filament candle bulbs.

Care

Switch off and let the bulbs cool before cleaning. Wipe the glass inside and out with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry it at once. Dust the brass with a soft, dry brush to reach into the jaali. Avoid metal polish, abrasives and chemical cleaners, which will strip the antique finish.

Before you order

This chandelier is made to order. It takes twenty E14 bulbs, which are not included, and comes with a 2-year warranty. It is delivered in parts and assembled on site. Production takes 10–14 days, followed by 4–6 days for delivery.
