The Foliate Crown takes its name from the crown of cast brass leaves at its heart. From a central column sheathed in cut glass, a spray of acanthus leaves rises, and five scroll arms sweep out and curl over, each dressed in leaves and carrying a hanging globe of diamond-cut glass that ends in a pointed glass drop.

At the centre, a wide, shallow bowl of diamond-cut glass sits in a pierced foliate brass rim and holds the sixth light, so the chandelier glows from its heart as well as from its arms. Seen from below, the bowl's starburst pattern and the five arms form a star. The antique finish keeps the brass soft and aged, so the sparkle comes from the cut glass.

Finding the right spot

Hang it over a dining table seating six to eight, or at the centre of a formal living room or foyer. Over a table, keep the lowest point 75 to 90 cm above the top, which suits ceilings of about 9 ft and above. Where people walk beneath it, keep the lowest point at least 210 cm above the floor, which needs a ceiling of about 11 ft. Tell us your ceiling height and we will set the drop to suit.

Care

Switch off at the mains and let the bulbs cool before cleaning. Dust the brass with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe the cut glass with a barely damp cloth, then dry it straight away. The aged finish is meant to deepen with time, so do not polish it back, and never use abrasive pads or chemical cleaners.

The Foliate Crown is made to order and priced per piece. It takes six bulbs, which are not included, and comes with a 2-year warranty. Production takes 10–14 days, followed by 4–6 days for delivery.
