The pairing of a simple glass sphere and a thin metal frame comes from mid-century modern lighting, where designers stripped a lamp down to a few clean lines and let the glow of the glass do the work. The result is a light that looks almost weightless.

The Petite Globe follows that idea. A slim tube of stainless steel is bent into a tall oval and finished in PVD gold, a hard-wearing coating that keeps its warm colour and does not tarnish. A frosted white glass globe sits in a small cup at the base of the ring, so when it is lit, the soft glow is framed by a fine line of gold.

Finding the right spot

Hang a pair either side of a bed, a row of two or three over a kitchen island or dining table, or a single pendant in a hallway, a powder room or a reading corner. Beside a bed, hang it about 20 inches above the bedside table; over an island or table, about 30 to 36 inches above the top, spaced 24 to 30 inches apart. Use a warm white (2700K) bulb.

Care

Switch off and let the bulb cool before cleaning. Wipe the ring with a soft, dry cloth, and clean the glass with a barely damp cloth, then dry it. Avoid abrasive pads and chemical cleaners, which can scratch the PVD finish.

Before you order

This pendant is made to order, and the drop can be set to your ceiling. It takes one E14 bulb, which is not included, and comes with a 2-year warranty. Production takes 10–14 days, followed by 4–6 days for delivery.
