Wood Abacus Table Lamp

A playful geometric table lamp: two columns of stacked wooden blocks and stainless steel spheres, like the beads of an abacus, on a wooden base beneath a rectangular cream shade.

Bulb not included | 2-year warranty

The abacus is one of the oldest counting tools in the world, used across Asia and the Middle East for thousands of years. Its rows of beads on rods have a simple, satisfying rhythm, which mid-century designers liked to borrow for furniture and lighting.

This lamp builds on that rhythm. Two parallel columns rise from a rectangular wooden base, each made of wooden blocks alternating with polished stainless steel spheres. A rectangular cream shade in a matching shape sits above and keeps the lines clean.

What makes the Wood Abacus distinctive

• Abacus columns: Two stacks of wooden blocks and steel spheres.
• Wood and steel: Warm timber against bright stainless steel.
• Rectangular shade: A cream shade that echoes the shape of the base.
• Geometric outline: A modern piece that also suits warm, wood-filled rooms.
• Made to order in India: From Delhi Brass, a fourth-generation lighting and decorative metalwork company.

Finding the right spot

At 31 inches tall, it suits a console, a sideboard or a broad side table, where its long rectangular shade has room. Place it against a plain wall so the stacked columns can be seen clearly. Use a warm white (2700K) bulb.

Care

Switch off and let the bulb cool before cleaning. Dust the wood with a soft, dry cloth and keep it away from water. Wipe the steel spheres with a dry microfibre cloth. Freshen the shade with a soft brush. Avoid chemical cleaners.
