Baroque Scroll Glass Pendant

A slim, sculptural pendant: a cast Baroque S-scroll in antique gold holding a bell of champagne crackle glass that glows a warm amber when lit.

Bulb not included | 2-year warranty

Baroque metalworkers loved the S-scroll, bending it into brackets, candle arms and lantern hangers, often finished with a curling beast's head or a pierced rosette. These small cast pieces gave even a simple light the feel of a grand interior.

This pendant uses that idea in a slender form. Below a small ceiling hook and turned stem, a single cast S-scroll curves down, with a curled head at the top and a pierced rosette set into its bend. A leaf collar and ribbed gallery hold a bell-shaped shade of champagne-tinted crackle glass, which softens the bulb into a warm, textured glow. It is cast in aluminium and finished in antique gold, with darker tones in the recesses.

Finding the right spot

Its slim shape suits a pair of bedside pendants either side of a bed, a row of two or three over a kitchen island or breakfast counter, or a single light in a narrow hallway or powder room. Over a bedside table, hang the bottom of the shade about 20 inches above the top; over an island, about 30 to 36 inches above the counter, spaced 24 to 30 inches apart. Use a warm white (2700K) bulb.

Care

Switch off and let the bulb cool before cleaning. Dust the casting with a soft, dry brush. Clean the glass with a barely damp cloth, then dry it. Avoid polish, abrasive pads and chemical cleaners, which will damage the antique gold finish.
