Edwardian street and garden lighting took the cast lamp posts of the Victorian era and made them lighter and more decorative, with fluted columns, flowing scrolls and lanterns dressed in leaf ornament. The acanthus leaf, a motif carried down from classical Greek and Roman architecture, appears on many of the finest examples.

This lamp post follows that style. A fluted round pole rises to a square column with a finial, from which two scrolled arms with curled leaf ends sweep up and out. Each holds a tall lantern with a lattice-textured roof and flared panes of ripple-textured glass, which softens and sparkles the light, seated in a cup of curling acanthus leaves. It is made in rust-free aluminium and powder coated in a textured matte black for outdoor use.

Finding the right spot

At about 7 feet 4 inches tall, it suits a front garden path, a courtyard, the side of a driveway or either side of an entrance. Space posts about 15 to 20 feet apart along a long path. Fix it to a concrete footing or paved surface, and have the cable run underground by an electrician. Use warm white (2700K) bulbs suitable for outdoor fittings.

Care

Switch off and let the bulbs cool before cleaning. Wipe the pole and lanterns with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and rain marks, and clean the glass gently. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemical cleaners, which can damage the powder coat.

This lamp post is made to order. It takes two E27 bulbs, which are not included, and comes with a 2-year warranty. Production takes 10–14 days, followed by 4–6 days for delivery.
